There are many fantastic games that have developed for the Sony Playstation, the Microsoft Xbox 360 and the Sony Playstation Portable. From realistic sports games to brilliant fantasy role-playing games to thrilling and intense military games, today’s modern video games are so advanced, that it’s sometimes it’s hard to distinguish real life from the video game! Add to that fact that the music and soundtrack of today’s video games are so well orchestrated, that they belong in a feature film or on your Apple iPod Nano, rather than just on a video game.

One of my favorite video games of all time is a small, not-to-well known game that has all of the important elements that make for a quality video game in spades: interesting characters, challenging game play, humor, suspense and an absolutely breathtaking and magical musical score that I’m still looking to download onto my iPod Nano: the game is Medievil, which was designed and developed for the original Playstation and is now available for the Sony PSP.

There is something about this game that’s really intriguing and addicting at the same time. As the main character, you are Sir Daniel Fortesque, and you’re dead. However, through the magic of Sony Playstation Portable video game technology, you come back to life to defeat the evil wizard once and for all. It’s a simple premise that has been seen and played on many video game platforms, from Nintendo to the Microsoft Xbox 360. But, for some reason, it really works and works well on the Playstation and Sony PSP video game consoles.

Everything about this game really clicks. The music, which is definitely iPod Nano worthy, is never boring, repetitive or dull. Each part of the soundtrack corresponds beautifully with each unique level and area of the game, so that rather than playing a video game, you feel like your actually watching a spooky, scary and gothic movie – with you as the star! The graphics are amazing, and the voiceover work is some of the best that you’ll ever see – and hear – on the Playstation Portable!

There are many big time and big name video games that get all of the hype and the press. And, for the most part, the attention is well deserved, as the more popular games are often some of the best and most innovative titles ever created. But, once in a while, a smaller title gets released that is an absolute gem and soon becomes a cult classic video game. For me, Sony really hit a home run by releasing Medievil, and now that’s it’s available on the Sony PSP, it’s even better than ever!
