Stanozolol is basically a synthetic compound that is derived from testosterone. It is today one of the most salable drugs in the steroid industry. If observed in medical field, Winstrol is used both in animals as well as human patients to treat numerous diseases. Basically, Winstrol is used for the treatment of anemia and hereditary angioedema that causes extremities, swelling and bowel walls, etc.

It is a FDA approved drug and is available in the US, but the IAAF has banned its use in sports competitions.
