It can seem a little overwhelming to come up against the need to present knowledge based information on your site. Even more intimidating is the possibility of launching a business blog (b-blog). You may feel there is little to say and that it would be hard to maintain ongoing posts about your business, products or industry for any length of time.

RSS Feeds

One of the most comprehensive ways to keep up to date with your industry is to sign up for Real Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds from other trusted blogs in your industry. By using an RSS feed you can be alerted whenever a new blog is posted. This information can then be used to develop a new personalized blog for your business customers and information consumers.

The blog post you create isn’t simply a cut and paste of the information on another blog, but your own personal take on new industry information with a direct link to the blog that supplied you with the bulk of your data.

Don’t simply regurgitate information. Use the information to provide analysis and then allow that information to be delivered to readers as both authoritative and personal.

Blogs are a useful way for information consumers to locate data. Many times this data is more quickly located on a blog than news sources, especially if the blog is for a niche industry that may not be covered extensively by news professionals.

Employment Seeds

Did you know that individuals interested in your industry may peruse business blogs as a means of pinpointing a firm they may be most interested in working for? The information you provide is important to individuals who may be interested in working for you.

What can they learn about you? Your business? Your industry?

Better Than a Press Release?

A business blog can be an important tool in marketing your online business. While a press release is important, for many motivated consumers having access to ongoing information makes more sense than perusing industry publications in search of your latest press release.

This is not to say that the press release has no value. The truth is I am a strong advocate of press releases. However, you should know that a business blog contains many of the best ingredients to provide the strongest tie to those most interested in what you have to offer.

You can even allow multiple members of your online business to post to the company business blog. This distributes the work and draws from many different experiences.
