Basketball is a very exciting sport to watch, and NBA basketball is among the absolute best. The high-scoring games and the high-flying dunks—even the way that they hang in the air in order to get off a shot, all add to the game’s excitement. But sometimes, though, something happens during an NBA basketball game that you as a fan, can not control. Sometimes the players become so angry with one another during a game that things escalate from a simple heated argument, to a full-fledged fist fight, right on the court. These brawls can even get so out of hand that they spill into the stands, where the fans are.

Many people wonder how these brawls begin, and most of the time, the losing team starts them. Even though it’s usually the losing team that starts them, it is sometimes the winning one. The winning team will taunt the other team, causing the losing team to became angry and retaliate by what they call a hard foul. Like when Ben Wallace and Ron Artest got into an argument, which quickly escalated. Many of the other players were drawn into the fight, as well. The worst thing about it is that there were fans involved in the fight, and that’s when things really became very dangerous. Several of the NBA players were fined and suspended from a certain amount of games. Fortunately major tussles like this don’t happen all the time, but when they do happen, it’s usually very serious.

Just recently the Denver Nuggest and the New York Nicks were playing, and Denver was beating the Nicks badly. There was a hard foul on the Nuggets that triggered it all. This brawl also spilled into the stands, but fortunately, the fans stayed out of this one. These players, just like the ones involved in the other brawl, were fined and suspended from a certain number of games.

A good thing to study is what makes these players become so angry that they end up in horrible and dangerous physical altercations. Well, stress and pressure is probably a major cause of it. The players are under an immense amount of pressure to perform well, and win as many games as possible so that they have a chance at winning the Championship. Perhaps anger management and stress management should be mandatory classes for all NBA players to undergo in order to prevent and minimize these brawls.
