There are many variables to an internet connection. When a person first gets hooked up to a broadband connection they may have many questions and problems.

This is common and most of these worries are quite simple to solve or are really not a concern at all. It is a good idea for any first timer to read up on the commonly asked questions of broadband users.

The following list explains these common issues or questions a first time user may have.

Download speeds not at a steady rate.

The first thing to do is to run a speed test.

A speed test can give a user an idea of their connection speed. It should be ran several times at different times of day. Also a person should realize that the internet can become crowded or busy at certain times of the day or certain days of the week.

Sometimes it is simply the internet, not the broadband service that is running slow. A good way to test this out is to visit a few different websites. Websites used to high traffic demands are usually able to keep up and rarely experience a slow down, so a person should seek out a couple of these sites and compare them to lesser used sites.

If one loads faster than the other then it is likely an internet speed problem, not a broadband speed problem. Additionally, a person must be responsible for making sure their computer is set up to handle high speeds of internet use.

Every time a person visit’s a website their computer saves a bit of the information. To help keep their computer from being loaded down by information they should periodically clean their temporary files, history and cookies on their web browser.

Browser will not go any web page and says the user is not logged into the internet.

Sometimes this message can occur during peak hours because the web page is too busy. Again a person should try a few different websites to see if it is related to the internet, not their broadband connection.

If other web pages come up except one then it is most likely just an internet problem, like the website owner has too much traffic. If nothing comes up then a person should check over their connection.

First they should unsure everything is hooked up and plugged in as it should be. If anything is not then they should hook it up and try accessing the website again. If everything is fine then they should call their ISP for assistance.

ADSL hardware is not synchronizing.

With ADSL the set up and installation process involves synchronizing the users connection with the local exchange. If this does not happen then the user will be unable to install and use the ADSL.

Before calling their ISP for help, a person should check to ensure everything is connected and hooked up properly. The modem should have three modes. The person should try using each mode.

These are three of the most common issues users have when first starting with broadband internet.

After a while a person will automatically be able to decide what steps to take to resolve an issue and will know when it is best to call or not call their ISP.
