As Forrest Gump innocently said in the movie, “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.” Simple as it sounds, this is a fact and a reality we have to face.

Quite often, I believe many of us may think how life can be so unfair to us and to other people. Here we are working our asses of, trying to lead a well-lived life, doing good towards others and yet nothing seems to be going right…everything seems to be wrong. How it that many people on the other side of the planet are going hungry while there are so many rich people whose wealth are continuously abounding? We cannot help but question why such a tragedy has happened in our lives or why we are being weighed down by such a burdensome problem. What have we done to deserve this? Why of why…

These questions and the doubts continue to trouble us every single day, sometimes without knowing the answer, without even getting a response. And so, for some of those whose spirits have been dampened, whose hearts could no longer bear the agony, they seek the easy way out by ending their lives.

No matter how hard life seems to be, we will always find something about it to smile about. I guess our outlook towards life all depends on how we look at it, on how we try to survive despite the odds, on how we get up despite the problems that may have come our way. Life after all is what we make out of it.

Take the time to ponder and reflect on the life you have led. You will come to realize that you have been too focused on the bad things that you fail to recognize all the good that has been happening. We fail to appreciate the little things that may have brought a smile to our faces or events that may have caused our hearts to leap.

Simple things like your baby’s very first words, your very first promotion at work, your celebrated wedding, your most memorable birthday celebration, a weekend at the beach with a long time friend and other short but happy moments make life precious and worth living.

Life is how you live it and we never know how long we may be given the chance to do so. Make every moment count, both the good and the bad. If we focus more on the good things that has happened and do not dwell on the unhappy ones, life can be more fulfilling.
