There are many ways that NFL players help with the United Way. First of all, they donate a lot of their valuable time to personally venture out into the community to help those in need. This is not something that they’re required to do as National Football League players, but most of them just enjoy making families happy. They feel good about themselves when they are able to help needy families put food on the tables for their hungry children. They feel especially good upon seeing smiles on happy children’s faces at Christmas time. Many children would not otherwise have a Christmas if it weren’t for the generosity of the NFL players. These pro players feel that since they have been blessed with a talent that allows them to make large amounts of money that they want to help every disadvantaged person that they can.

A second way that many NFL players help the United Way is by donating their time and money to help build homes for homeless families with children. This is usually done through the local Habitat for Humanity. Some of the pro players even get out and get soiled as they assist in the creation of these homes. They don’t feel like they’re above manual labor, which is why they don’t mind doing this to help people. They think about how many of these under-privileged families live in overcrowded shelters, and sometimes even in their vehicles, and their heart goes out to them. If the pro player can do something to help prevent this problem, then they will.

Another way that professional football players help out the United Way is by helping to plan fundraising events to raise money for all types of programs: Housing, food, special Christmas funds, education, recreational activities, etc.

The community sure appreciates all that these wonderful NFL players do to help disadvantaged youths. It’s not required, but they do it because they are fine, caring individuals who want to give back to their community. Maybe some the children who they provide help for will someday grow up to be professional football players. That would certainly make the NFL player feel good, if they were the reason that a young person had enough confidence to pursue their dreams.

The NFL will continue to help children and their community through the United Way, and hopefully this can help to eliminate poverty in some areas. It would certainly make the NFL even more appreciated than they are currently.
