Jeremy Shockey was born on August 18, 1980 in Ada, Oklahoma. At 6 foot 5 inches and 250 pounds Shockey is the perfect size for a top notch tight end. When combined with his high level of athleticism and mental skills it is easy to see why Shockey has become one of the best at his position. And not only is he a great player in the NFL, but he has been turning heads since his high school days.

After a stellar high school career Shockey decided to take his game to the University of Miami. The school has a long history of developing great tight ends, and Shockey knew that he could be next in line if he put in the proper amount of time. Although he did not get to do much as a freshman, during his sophomore season things began to change. This was particularly true after he caught the game winning touchdown pass against hated rival Florida State. Shockey’s performance during his sophomore season led him to being named first team All-Big East by the coaches in the conference, as well as several national publications.

As a junior in 2001 Shockey was an integral part in helping the Hurricanes to win the National Championship. During that season he led the team with 45 receptions for more than 600 yards. He also added 8 touchdowns in 2001. After the season Shockey was again showered with awards, which in turn led him to declaring his eligibility for the 2002 NFL Draft.

Shockey was selected by the New York Giants with the 14th overall pick in the draft. He began to impress early on, and this led to him winning the Pepsi Rookie of the Year Award. During four of his first five seasons Shockey was named to the NFL Pro Bowl team. He has already established himself as one of the best tight ends in the league.
