So it’s time for that vacation and you choose the Alaska Cruise Vacation. Well, first off, you should probably find out just what exactly you’re getting yourself into so let’s start with the basics.

The Alaska Cruise Vacation is very popular, for starters. The first thing you need to decide when planning your Alaskan vacation is which season you would like to set sail in. For most people, they choose the summer months because not only is the water warmer but also the day are a lot longer compared to the days in the winter months. Longer days means more time to explore the Alaskan terrain and all it has to offer in the amount of time you have at each port.

So now, you’ve got a season. The next step is to decide where exactly in Alaska you would like to go. For most major cruise lines there are only two options. You can either explore the Gulf of Alaska or the Inside Passage. The more popular of the two is the Inside Passage. This route will flout you from towns like Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, and either Sitka, Haines, or Victoria, B.C. Most likely, the boat will also stop in Glacier Bay or some other glacier area.

For the Gulf of Alaska cruise, you will usually said north or south into Seward or Vancouver. Most of the stops will be the same as the Inside Passage Cruise however the Gulf cruise is only one-way therefore the boat will take you farther than the other option. On this cruise you will also be able to see places like Valdez, Hubbard Glacier, College Fjord, and other gulf cities.

If you’re trying to decide between the two then just sit back and think about what you want in a cruise. If you prefer more sightseeing and just looking around then you should most likely look into the Inside Passage cruise. If you’d rather get out and explore the cities near the gulf then you’d most likely like the Gulf of Alaska cruise better… just remember that it won’t get you back to your starting point because it’s only one way!

If you pick the right package, the right cruise line, book it early, go in the off season months (September and May), and come prepared for a trip that you will always remember, then it is a definite that you will have lots of fun on your Alaska Cruise Vacation!
