Hawaii has a land area of nearly 6,500 square miles, however it's actually made up of a series of volcanic islands. The eight major islands at the eastern end of the chain are, from west to east, Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, Maui, and the big island of Hawaii.

Located in the central region of the Pacific Ocean, just below the tropic of cancer, Hawaii is actually the 50th of the United States.
